This project aims to take the general knowledge of those with the experience of growing native plants from seed at Coolum Community Native Nursery and put it in a format not only for presevation, but also for others to access. My background as a native seed biologist put me in a unique postion to understand and carry out the project up to this point.
To understand what answers I needed to find, I first had to know what questions needed asking. Native plant propagation includes the collection of seed, the processing and cleaning of the seed, often treatments to break seed dormancy and then an understanding of the germination requirements for each species. There are also other propagation methods.
Up to this point I have recorded interviews and completed data sheets for 75 of the species that the Coolum Native Nursery has sold at some time over the past. Included is detail on the Collection, Processing, Pre-Treatment and Germination Requirements of each of the species and where possible an image of the seeds. If you have any questions please contact the Coolum Nursery,
